Planning Commission approves medical marijuana dispensary in Nipomo

Posted: Updated:

The San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission on Thursday approved plans for a medical marijuana dispensary in Nipomo.

Plans are for Ethnobotanica to move into a building at 2122 Hutton Road. That's located at the Highway 101/Highway 166 interchange just north of the Santa Maria River Bridge.

The Planning Commission voted 3-1, with one commissioner absent, to approve a Minor Use Permit for the business. However, the decision is subject to appeal in the next 14 days. If that happens, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors would make the final decision.

Ethnobotanica's attorney, Louis Koory, said he anticipates an appeal.

Ethnobotanica would be the only brick-and-mortar medical marijuana dispensary in San Luis Obispo County.
