Just a few days before Refugio State Beach is set to reopen following May’s oil spill, new legislation in response to the spill has passed at the committee level of the State Assembly.
Two bills were introduced to help make response to spills faster and more effective as well as improve oil pipeline inspections.
One bill would reestablish the State Fire Marshal’s role in inspecting federally regulated pipelines.
The two bills now head to the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
