Stolen pistol, fake bills, drugs found in Nipomo man's car, officials say

A stolen pistol, counterfeit money, and drugs packaged for sale were among the items found in a Nipomo man's vehicle after he was pulled over earlier this week, officials say.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says deputies were driving on Highway 101 in Arroyo Grande at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday when they noticed another driver, Allen Michael Thompson, 26, as a person who was on probation and also had a suspended license.

They say he was pulled over and his vehicle was searched due to the terms of his probation.

The Sheriff's Office says a Sheriff's K9, Jacco, assisted with the search, alerting deputies to a small compartment in the side panel behind the driver's seat.

A stolen .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol was found in the compartment, along with 6.5 grams of methamphetamine and 4.5 grams of heroin, which was all packaged for sale, drug paraphernalia and $120 in counterfeit bills, the Sheriff's Office says.

Thompson was arrested on multiple charges. Jail logs did not show him in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
