A Righetti High School student remains hospitalized after being hit by a car earlier this month.

Cassandra Quesada, 14, was hit after stepping into a crosswalk on Foster Road near the high school in Orcutt the morning of September 9.

She was airlifted to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara where officials say she had surgery for severe head trauma. She also suffered a broken arm.

According to a gofundme page set up on Cassandra's behalf, a portion of her skull was removed to relieve pressure on her brain. The page says she's in an induced coma but is stable.

Doctors will continue to reduce her medicine to see how she reacts.
