Arroyo Grande students learn about nuclear science and energy

Posted: Updated:

Officials from Diablo Canyon Power Plant spent Tuesday afternoon teaching kids at Ocean View Elementary School in Arroyo Grande about nuclear science and energy.

Through demonstrations, kids there learned about how nuclear energy works, discussing industry careers and the range of economic, community and environmental benefits associated with clean energy.

"Folks have concerns about nuclear power and i'm here to talk about how really safe and reliable it is and because it's so clean and safe it's totally important and a good benefit to our energy portfolio," said Will Landreth, a mechanical engineer at Diablo Canyon.

This week is Nuclear Science Week and to celebrate, Diablo Canyon is going to schools and forums all around San Luis Obispo County.
