Janet DeFelice was born on September 8, 1918.

On the early morning of June 1, 2007, DeFelice was moved into her son's home in the 5200 block of Santa Rita Ranch Road in rural Templeton. DeFelice suffered from Alzheimer's disease. She previously lived in Costa Mesa.

Family members discovered DeFelice missing at approximately 7:00 a.m. that same day. They said she was upset about being moved and believed she may have been trying to return to Costa Mesa.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team, along with agencies from other parts of the state, searched for her numerous times but were unsuccessful in locating her.

At the time of her disappearance, DeFelice was described as 5'7" tall and 130 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.
