Paso Robles police warn locals of IRS phone scam

Posted: Updated:

The City of Paso Robles is warning people about a phone scam.

Officials say the scammers call claiming to be a Paso Robles police officer or detective and tell people they owe the IRS tax money.

The scammers threaten to arrest, deport or revoke the victim's driver's license if the money is not paid.

Police say the scammers are using a legitimate caller ID to try to fool victims.

If you think you've been a victim of the so-called "IRS phone scam," or have any information, contact the Paso Robles Police Department.
