Courtroom surveillance video shows attorney's arrest

Posted: Updated:

Newly released surveillance video from inside a San Luis Obispo courtroom shows the arrest of a high-level attorney in late October.

State Deputy Attorney General Jennie Kelly was taken into custody on October 20 for resisting a peace officer. The Sheriff's Office said she had been admonished for outbursts in court and refused to calm down.

The video shows Kelly pointing and apparently yelling at another attorney across the room. A bailiff approaches her and it appears Kelly begins to argue with him, as well. The bailiff then grabs both of Kelly's hands. After a brief moment, Kelly pulls her hands away and the two struggle before the bailiff takes her to the ground.

No charges have yet been filed against Kelly. The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office says it is still reviewing evidence and reports from the incident.

Kelly was representing the state in the case of Tammy Jordan vs. State of California.
