If you plan on eating a lot on Thanksgiving, you can burn off those calories beforehand running or walking in Avila and Pismo Beach.

The Grover Beach - 5 Cities Rotary Club is holding its 4th annual South County Turkey Trot at the Beach Thanksgiving morning at 8:30.

The entry fee for the 1-mile, 5K, 10K walk, jog or run is just $1.

The money raised benefits the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.

"We have such a great environment here, why not come down and do something healthy in the morning before you get started?" said Chris Aho with the food bank.

Anthony Salas with the Turkey Trot says, "Help make people feel a little less guilty about the amount of gorging that will probably go on later on in the day, so they get to go out, have a little bit of fun with the family, with the pets and work off some energy, work off some calories and then go and put those calories back on again."

You can sign up on race day at the south side of the Pismo Beach Pier.
