An 80-pound bear is back at home in the mountains near Hume Lake, California after hitching a 75 mile ride into Fresno in the back of a garbage truck.

It all started when driver "K.C." loaded his garbage truck near Hume Lake.

"About halfway down the mountains my truck is going from side to side, and I'm thinking it's the road, not knowing I have a bear in my compactor," he later said.

The one-year-old 80 pound bear was inside after being accidentally loaded while rummaging through the garbage.  Soon, K.C. and his co-workers made the discovery.

"When I dumped the container I saw all of the employees running. Not knowing, I pulled forward about ten feet and I saw Cinnamon (the bear) running across the parking lot," said K.C.

The bear was eventually captured by Fresno police and California Department of Fish and Wildlife authorities, who tranquilized the wild animal, captured it and returned it to the forest.

Neither the bear nor any humans were injured.
