Middle school students in Paso Robles got a special visit Friday morning from a teen pop singer with an anti-bullying message.

Meredith O'Connor uses her music and personal experiences to discuss anti-bullying.

She performed at several assemblies Friday for Paso Robles Middle School students and got to meet and talk with some of them about bullying.

"A lot of times, from fan mail and from messages on Instagram and Facebook, a common theme is that they feel alone. A common theme is that they feel like it's their fault and it's really important to me to just let them know that they're not alone," O'Connor said. "When I leave today, and what I want the students to know, is that if they're being picked on, it's not an end-all be-all. Things get better and they can talk to an adult about it, talk to a family member, or one of the amazing people at Paso Robles, the school district, and things will get better."

O'Connor has had sold-out shows all over the world but says performing at schools is one of the most meaningful parts of her work.
