Local veteran receives service dog

Posted: Updated:

A local veteran who has gone through some tough times has a new best friend to help him out and brighten his spirits.

The Los Osos group of Rotarians called "Paws 4 A Cause" helps raise money to provide service dogs to those who need them.

Friday's recipient, Bruce Hulin, who's had a leg amputated and is widowed, asked if they would be able to help.

The dog, named Nichols, knows about 65 commands and helps Bruce around the house and out in public.

"Paws 4 A Cause" partners with the group "New Life K9s," which helps train service dogs for veterans with PTSD.
