Detectives who worked to track down a wanted sex offender in Madera say they are also linking him to a child molestation case in Nipomo.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office wanted to apprehend Mark Jeddell Cater for failing to register as a sex offender.

Cater was the subject of one of KSBY's "Most Wanted Wednesdays" segments last month.

On Monday, sheriff's deputies announced Cater was found in Madera and arrested on March 28.

Detectives also accuse Cater of child molestation and want additional charges pressed against him.

The sheriff's office announced Monday that it had been investigating Cater regarding a 2013 child molestation case involving a 12-year-old girl in Nipomo.

"As a result of his arrest and upon further investigation, Cater now faces 10 additional charges of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 years old," Tony Cipolla, a sheriff's office spokesperson, said in a statement.

Cipolla said Cater was also arrested for violating his probation in an unrelated domestic violence case.
