If you enjoy live music, there's an event this weekend in downtown San Luis Obispo you won't want to miss.

The 3rd annual SLO Jazz Festival will fill Mission Plaza with music created by a bunch of Grammy-winning ensembles, including Pete Escovedo's Latin Jazz Orchestra.

Escovedo's group is the co-headlining act for the festival and the musicians take the stage beginning at 6:30 Saturday evening.

Escovedo has played all over the world, and twice for the President and First Lady. He says nothing beats playing a live gig.

"I'm always excited to perform. I always look forward to it and so we kind of kid around up on stage with the boys and I always like to feel like we're at home and the people are in our living room and we're going to entertain them."

Escovedo frequently performs with '80s pop icon, Sheila E. She's his daughter.

The fest will also feature performances by the Rebirth Brass Band out of New Orleans, plus the Tipsy Gypsies, the Zongo All-Stars, the Cuesta Faculty All-Stars and several ensembles of students from area college and high school bands.

SLO Jazz Festival runs from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday in Mission Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo.
