There are 44,000 people in San Luis Obispo County who struggle with hunger and unfortunately 40 percent of them are children.

Because of that, Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo and Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton collected healthy cereal to help feed local kids this summer.

During the Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive, which benefits the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County, both hospitals donated 1,800 servings of cereal and $1,200 to help feed local children who may be struggling with hunger during their summer break.

That money will be matched by Tenet Healthcare.
