SLO Food Bank to offer more fresh produce thanks to major grant

Posted: Updated:

A nearly $400,000 grant will help the San Luis Obispo County Food Bank Coalition feed people in need.

The funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be used to increase availability of fresh produce and food at the Food Bank and support local farmers.

Food Bank Director of Programs Jen Miller says the organization is moving to a different locations to allow for more storage space from the fresh produce.

"We're about six weeks out from moving into our brand new, centrally located facility in San Luis Obispo," Miller told KSBY.

Miller says the project is under budget and on track to open on time.

Nine different community partners are working together on the grant.
