Cuesta College now a food distribution site

Posted: Updated:

Cuesta College is now a Neighborhood Food Distribution site for the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.

Both the North County and San Luis Obispo campuses will hand out food every 3rd Tuesday of the month. The SLO Campus will distribute food at Parking Lot 3 from 3 p.m. -  5 p.m. and the North County Campus will distribute food at Parking Lot 10 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Participants can pick up one bag of pantry food and one bag of fresh produce.

"We felt that it was important because we know that hunger is a national epidemic on college campuses," said Dr. Anthony Gutierrez, student life coordinator. "This is one of the reasons, in order to provide student support and to make our students successful, we want to provide this service to them as well as to our community."

To receive food, participants have to be at least 18 years of age and meet USDA income guidelines. No ID or proof of income is required. For more information, click here
