Hunger Walk raises money for SLO Food Bank

Posted: Updated:

The Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County hosted its 8th Annual Hunger Walk on Saturday morning.

Their goal is to raise $50,000 for the food bank. The food bank provides food for more than 40,000 residents in San Luis Obispo County.

"Hunger is a year-round need in our community that we work to address," said Aracely Aceves Lozano, community relations director at the food bank. "It is right before the holidays and we're really building up the awareness for the community to understand that 1 in 6 of our neighbors are struggling to get enough nutritious food."

This year, there was a 5k fun run in addition to the one-mile walk.
