Dodgers' Justin Turner surprises Ryan Teixeira at hospital

Posted: Updated:

Ryan Teixeira is currently fighting cancer for the second time. When he was first diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in September, Teixeira received some attention from Major League Baseball. Teixeira received a personal video from Los Angeles Dodger's manager Dave Roberts as well as Dodger players' Justin Turner and Adrian Gonzalez.

On Friday, Teixeira's surprise video turned into a surprise reality. Turner stopped by the UCLA Medical Center to pay a visit to Teixeira.

According to Teixeira's father Steve, Teixeira has had up and downs since his diagnosis. Finding a bone marrow transplant became the first priority. After learning Teixeira's brother Aaron was a perfect match, Teixeira's transplant was delayed because the Leukemia took over his remission. On Christmas day, Teixeira will begin conditioning chemotherapy. His bone marrow transplant is now scheduled for the first week of January.

To follow his fight against cancer, Teixeira's Facebook page can be found by clicking here.
