Free breast cancer screening program expands

Posted: Updated:

A California program providing free breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services is expanding to serve more women.

Every Woman Counts (EWC) was created in 1996 to provide such services to low-income, uninsured women over the age of 40. Assembly Bill 1795, which took effect on January 1, changed EWC's eligibility policy to include breast cancer diagnostic services for symptomatic women of any age.

To find out if you qualify for the program or to find a network provider, call 1-800-511-2300 or visit the Every Woman Counts website.

For more information about services in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, call (805) 681-4783.
