Dancers are rehearsing for a major production just days away and hope community members will come see their multi-faceted performance.

San Luis Obispo's CORE Dance Company will present its annual show "Rhythms" this weekend at Spanos Theatre on the Cal Poly campus.

With dance styles ranging from ballet to hip-hop and modern to musical theatre, the show directors say there is something for everyone.

Several other Central Coast dance companies will perform guest numbers in the show. It's a collaboration to honor the life of local dance icon Pat Jackson who spear-headed the dance movement in San Luis Obispo County decades ago.

CORE dance member Paige Baltimore says the local dance community continues to feel Jackson's impact 20 years after her passing.

"This year we have a tribute to [Pat Jackson] in which we're going to play her last performance she ever did before she passed away," Baltimore said. "We're going to have candles and some of the dancers, including myself, are going to do the same moves as in her video to remind everybody of her final performance."

You can catch Rhythms this Saturday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. or Sunday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m.
