A small dog had emergency surgery Thursday after its owners say it was viciously attacked by another dog that got away.

Kelly Marie and her husband were staying in Santa Barbara when their small dog, Enzo, was attacked at the Mission Rose Garden.

"From behind me, a dog jumped over and grabbed my six-pound chihuahua and it was a tan, three-legged pit bull," said Marie.

She says the dog was off leash, which the park does not permit.

"He grabbed him by the neck and was shaking him around," described Marie.
Enzo was rushed to a nearby pet hospital for emergency surgery.

"He spent three hours in surgery and re-attached all the skin," said Marie.

Enzo is now recovering.

Marie says the owner of the other dog fled the scene with his dog in a black Volkswagen. Police are now investigating and urging anyone with information to come forward.

"We just really want to find the owner so we can avoid this happening to someone else," said Marie.

The owner of the dog that attacked is described as an Asian man in his mid-20s. His car had stickers on the back and Marie said she was able to get a partial license plate of either JGH065 or JQH065.

A GoFundMe page is set up to help pay for Enzo's surgery.
