Morro Bay National Estuary Program releases State of the Bay report

Posted: Updated:

The State of the Bay report is out and we are learning a lot about the condition of the Morro Bay National Estuary.

Every three years, the Morro Bay National Estuary Program studies the health of the bay. They look at the water quality, how climate change is affecting the estuary, and whether important natural areas are being protected.

"So people ask us, 'Is the water clean enough to swim in? Are there enough birds and fishes in the bay?' Those are the kinds of questions we answer," said Lexia Bell of the estuary program.

The report says the bay is safe for swimming in most areas and it is safe for commercial shellfish harvesting. You can check the whole report here
