A man is behind bars after police say he led them on a high-speed chase through northern San Luis Obispo County that ended at a vineyard where the driver allegedly stole another vehicle before being taken into custody.

It started Wednesday morning when police say a stolen vehicle was located unoccupied in the Santa Margarita area. When officers responded, they say someone had gotten inside the stolen vehicle and was driving it toward Atascadero.

When officers tried to pull the driver over, they say he took off and the pursuit began, which went along parts of Highway 101 North and through parts of Atascadero before the suspect exited on Las Tablas Road, police say.

Police say sheriff's deputies and the California Highway Patrol then located the car on the west side of Templeton where they say the suspect stole an off-highway vehicle from a vineyard there.

Bradleigh Tabelin was taken into custody before 9:00 a.m. and booked on multiple charges. Police say the 25-year-old is from San Luis Obispo County, was on probation, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and also a suspended driver's license.
