Boy Scout develops new playground in Arroyo Grande for Eagle Scout project

Posted: Updated:

A teenager has made it his mission to build a playground in Arroyo Grande.

Riley Betita, 17, is a Boy Scout who is just one step away from earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

In order to achieve that, Betita has to give back to the community.

For the last year he's been developing a farm-themed playground in the Village of Arroyo Grande. That included presenting the project at three parks and recreation meetings, and gathering public input to get it through City Council.

His hard work is paying off, Betita is getting help from local businesses, the City, and boys from Troop 413.

"All of this is being donated by multiple companies and the city is a big part, a big asset to this." says Eagle Scout candidate Riley Betita.

Betita broke ground on the park on Tuesday and workers will start installing the play structures next week.
