Lompoc police warn residents of yearbook phone scam

Posted: Updated:

The Lompoc Police Department is warning residents to be aware of a new phone scam.

Police say a community member reported getting a call recently from a private phone number in which the caller said he was representing police and the sheriff. The caller asked for $125 to sponsor an advertisement in the police yearbook.

Lompoc police say there is no police yearbook and that this phone call was a scam.

They say anyone who receives a similar call should not provide the caller with any personal information or money.

The Lompoc Police Department can be reached at (805) 736-2341.
