A man who attacked a 20-year-old woman at her San Luis Obispo apartment in 2015 will spend more than three decades behind bars.

The sentence was handed down by a San Luis Obispo County Superior Court Judge Wednesday after Derrick Moore accepted a plea agreement earlier this year.

The agreement included a sentence of 38 years to life with Moore pleading no contest to first-degree burglary causing great bodily injury and assault with intent to commit sexual assault. He had been charged with attempted murder.

Prosecutors say, on September 11, 2015, Moore used a Taser on a woman he did not know and forced her from her front doorway to the ground inside her apartment.

The woman was able to fight back and get away.

The charges that stemmed from that attack were Moore's third and fourth strikes.
