UPDATE: Brush fire at Camp SLO contained

Fire crews have contained a vegetation fire that broke out at Camp San Luis Obispo on Thursday morning.

First reports of the fire were received at about 8:45 a.m.

By 4:40 p.m., the fire had burned approximately 255 acres and was 100 percent contained. 

Authorities said the fire started at a shooting range on the base, but the cause of the fire was still under investigation.

Crews were expected to remain at the scene for another hour, extinguishing hot spots.

    Traffic is still backed up after a crash clogged up the roadways heading south on Highway 101 near Pismo Beach.  The crash happened around 10 a.m. Officers were still on scene at 1 p.m.  The California Highway Patrol dispatch says details of the crash are unknown outside of what has been reported by callers.  It is unknown if any injuries were reported.  Avoid area if possible.
