For one week in April, SLO County Public Libraries collected food in exchange for library fines. On Monday, officials announced more than 2,265 pounds of non-perishable food items were collected.

They say that's the equivalent of 1,880 meals.

During National Library Week, all county library branches forgave $1 of overdue fines for each food donation. All food was donated to the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.
