A fire that burned 190 acres of brush in the Cuyama area over the weekend was sparked by a bird, according to Santa Barbara County Fire officials.

Investigators reportedly determined that a bird struck a power line, caught fire, then fell to the ground and ignited the grass below.

The Wasioja Fire broke out on Saturday, May 20 off Wasioja Road and Highway 166. It was fully contained by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

No structures were lost or damaged in the fire and no injuries were reported.
