The Lompoc Theatre is getting ready to celebrate its 90th birthday and a recent remodel to the iconic building.

The mold, pigeons, seats and asbestos have been cleaned out of the theater, and for the first time in 20 years, visitors can go inside without worrying about the ceiling fan falling on top of them.

The Lompoc Theatre was one of the first theaters to have sound and it quickly became a game-changer for entertainment in the area.

This weekend, the public is invited to help restore the theater as a multiuse space for the Lompoc Valley and Central Coast.

"This town has wanted this theater so much, for so long, and there's been a lot of broken hearts trying to get it done," said Mark Herrier, the president of the Lompoc Theatre Project. "We're the forth group to try it; as you can see we're making real progress and I think now the town will believe after this party that it's really gonna happen this time."
