The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to identify the suspect who robbed a Carpinteria bank on Wednesday.

The robbery was reported at about 1:50 p.m. at the Union Bank on the 5400 block of Carpinteria Avenue.

Investigators say the robber handed a teller a note demanding money, then walked out the front door after being given an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen headed northbound.

The robber is described as heavyset, in his late 50s, approximately 6' tall and 250 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, sunglasses, and a black Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap with dark gray writing.

Sheriff's deputies searched the area after the robbery but were unable to locate the suspect. They believe he may be the same person who robbed the Montecito Bank and Trust across the street on April 27.

Anyone with information about these robberies is urged to contact the Sheriff's Office at (805) 681-4150. To leave an anonymous tip, call (805) 681-4171 or visit the Sheriff's website.
