Posted: Updated:

Arroyo Grande High School's new diversity sculpture was unveiled Thursday.

Students under the direction of local artist Jim Trask designed and built the 11-foot tall statue titled "Arboring our Roots of Diversity."

"It's a great day for our community to have this piece of art that really takes diversity and inclusiveness to the next level in our community," said Michael Boyer, Five Cities Diversity Coalition president.

The sculpture cost about $20,000 and was funded by the Five Cities Diversity Coalition and numerous local organizations and individuals.
