A fire in the Santa Ynez Valley on Thursday afternoon burned approximately five acres of grass and brush, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

It broke out at around 3:15 p.m. in the area of Happy Canyon Road and Secretariate Street. It was reportedly contained about an hour later.

No structures were damaged or threatened.

Fire officials say there were utility lines down in the area, but the exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Crews were expected to remain at the scene conducting mop-up operations for a couple of hours.
