New video shows a man's rescue from a plane crash near Carpinteria over the weekend.
A 31-year-old man broke his legs when he crashed a small plane Saturday in a remote area of the Los Padres National Forest near the Santa Barbara/Ventura County line.
The pilot called 911 to report the crash. Ventura County Fire dispatchers were able determine his location, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office reports.
Video from the sheriff's office shows Santa Barbara County Fire Aircrew paramedics in a helicopter hoisting the man to safety from the wreckage of the single engine Piper Cherokee.
Search and rescue crews on the ground were set to hike down from Divide Peak and up from Rincon Canyon in case cloudy conditions prevented the air rescue.
The pilot was the only person on board. Deputies say the aircraft was based out of San Diego.
The cause of the crash is unknown. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
