Hill Fire containment increases to 85%

Posted: Updated:

As of Thursday morning, CAL FIRE says containment of the Hill Fire has increased to 85 percent while acreage burned remains at 1,598 acres.

The Hill Fire was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday along Parkhill Road near Rue de Leon. Two fires were initially reported in the area and later merged into one.

Evacuation orders were lifted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday for people living near the fire.

All road closures have been lifted as of Thursday morning.

At least three homes were confirmed destroyed in the fire. Damage assessment teams will examine the burn area Thursday to determine if any other structures were damaged or destroyed.

As firefighters gain more containment on the Hill Fire, some crews will be sent home today or be reassigned to other fires burning across the state.
