A local man has a new bicycle thanks to the Morro Bay Police Department.

Matthew Majors, who has some developmental disabilities, visited the police department with his service coordinator in June. He met Chief Gregory Allen and received a police patch and challenge coin.

During his visit, police say they learned that Majors' had been through some rough times. His mother recently died of cancer and the bike he used for transportation was badly in need of repair.

Employees within the police department and the Morro Bay Police Officers Association collected enough money to buy Majors a new bike, helmet and lock.

Last Thursday, July 27, Majors returned to the police department and was presented with the new bike.
