CAL FIRE reported Thursday afternoon that the Camatta Fire is now fully contained.

The lightning-sparked fire broke out Wednesday morning in the area of Highway 58 and Camatta Creek Road east of Santa Margarita.

It burned 70 acres.

The fire was one of two that broke out in the same area during a thunderstorm at around 10:30 a.m. The second fire, called the Red Fire, has burned 460 acres off of Highway 58 and Red Hill Road. It was 50 percent contained as of Thursday morning.

At the Camatta Fire, CAL FIRE said one engine would continue to patrol the area throughout the night on Thursday to make sure there are no flare-ups.
