Parking policed in neighborhoods near Pioneer Valley High School

The "No Stopping Zones" at Pioneer Valley High School in Santa Maria are now active.

The zones were set up across from the school campus after neighbors complained about students leaving trash when parking in residential neighborhoods.

On Wednesday, Santa Maria police officers began issuing warnings to students caught parking in the off-limit areas. They'll continue with warnings for the next couple of days before they start handing out tickets.

Many students don't park in the school parking lot because a permit to park on campus requires a driver's license, proof of insurance and registration, which many of them don't have. See the story linked below for more details on the ongoing problem:
