Stuff the Bus campaign off to a great start as kids go back to school

Posted: Updated:

The annual "Stuff the Bus" campaign is underway on the Central Coast.

KSBY has teamed up with the United Way to collect school supply donations in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.

Locals turned out in great numbers Thursday at the donation site in Paso Robles at Walmart.

Rachel Cantina of the United Way says the reason why this campaign happens every year is because thousands of local kids are in need as many families can't afford to buy all the supplies kids need to be ready for school.

"It's so important to get off to a good start at school, because school supplies make a kid feel confident and ready and they can go back and learn," Cantina said.

The donations you make stay local and go directly to school districts within the area where you drop off supplies.

Stuff the Bus continues through August 14.

Friday, August 11, KSBY will be live at the Walmart on South Bradley Road in Santa Maria.
