Breweries make first sales at Downtown SLO Farmers’ Market

Posted: Updated:

Cheers to beer at the San Luis Obispo Farmers' Market - that's what some are saying after the beer tasting and sales program made its debut at the market Thursday night.

Each week, five participating breweries will take turns offering beer tastings.

This week, Libertine and Barrelhouse Brewing Company poured tastes from their taps.

San Luis Obispo resident Brian Kelly said he supports the new addition to the market.

"It's just really cool to see everyone gathering and drinking beer together," Kelly said.

For local breweries, it's a great way to show off their product.

"Everyone's been excited," said Libertine General Manager Sean Zurbriggen. "We've had a lot of new people that have never heard of us and then there's a lot of locals that are coming to show support for this because they really want to see it become a part of the Farmers' Market."

The breweries will also sell sealed bottled and canned beer but those products cannot be opened at the market.
