Gang task force members believe they've found the man suspected of shooting into a San Miguel home back in June. As it turns out, he's already in jail.

On June 5, sheriff's deputies say at least one shot was fired into the home on the 1700 block of Mission Street in San Miguel. Two adults and three children were inside. No one was hurt.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Gang Task Force was there that night and at some point spoke with the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, which identified a potential shooter: 24-year-old David-Zosimo Pacheco Carrasco of San Lucas.

Because Carrasco had a no-bail felony arrest warrant, several law enforcement agencies teamed up to find him. Deputies say he was arrested on the warrant and booked into Monterey County Jail several days later on June 14.

While Carrasco was in jail for the past several weeks, investigators in San Luis Obispo County became surer that Carrasco was the man who shot into the San Miguel home. Then on Thursday, a new felony arrest warrant for Carrasco was issued in San Luis Obispo:

  • Attempted murder
  • Assault with a firearm
  • Shooting at an inhabited dwelling
  • Special allegation: personal and intentional use of a firearm
  • Special allegation: having a prior serious or violent strike felony
  • Special allegation: having a prior prison commitment within five years

The SLO County Sheriff's Office plans to arrest Carrasco on suspicion of those charges once he is released from Monterey County Jail on the charges related to the original, no-bail warrant.

Monterey County says Carrasco is a known Norteno gang member.
