Local nonprofit group, SLO Partners is training people in tech. With no experience needed, simply bring a good attitude.
The group is new, and as spearheaded by the County Office of Education. The goal is to help create more local high quality jobs. They hope to create at least a thousand new technology jobs before Diablo Canyon is closed.
The non-profit got a 1.5-million dollar grant to train 50 people in tech jobs.
Training includes tech certifications and people skills. The first wave of program grads will soon start on-the-job training in i-t and automated software testing.
So far 940 people signed up for the “technology apprenticeship program,” interested in being in one of the 50 pre-apprentice positions, and 30 apprentice positions.
The non-profit works with companies like Amazon, Mind body, iFixit, and many more.
