A shallow marine layer is keeping some dense fog along the coastline in some locations today. The next few days could continue to bring dense fog in the overnight and early morning hours.

The big problem in this week’s forecast though, is the heat.

An excessive heat watch is in effect for San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Cambria, San Simeon, Santa Maria, Lompoc and Vandenberg  from Monday through Wednesday evening. As the evening progresses, the watch will likely be converted to an excessive heat warning or a heat advisory. Temperatures will reach 93-108 across the far interior portions of the coastal zones while overnight lows will dip to the mid 60s or mid 70s.

There is also an excessive heat warning for interior valleys, including Paso Robles, Atascadero and Cuyama. Temperatures will range from 102 to 112 degrees.  The heat warning is in effect until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Humidity will not be a big factor and sea breeze will decrease, which can make temperatures feel more uncomfortable.
