Local governments to debate marijuana regulation

Posted: Updated:

Two local city councils will meet Tuesday to iron out plans for managing marijuana, following the passage of Proposition 64 last November.

Atascadero and Lompoc council members will discuss marijuana legalization at their respective city meetings Tuesday night.

In Atascadero, council members will discuss where, when and how cannabis can be grown, purchased and consumed.

Atascadero residents are encouraged to voice their opinions on pot regulation at tonight's meeting during public comment.

The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Atascadero City Hall Council Chambers.

In Lompoc, city leaders will debate how to regulate medical and recreational pot use.

They will also consider an all-out ban on marijuana within city limits.

Council members are also slated to discuss how to regulate personal marijuana grows and commercial operations.

Locals will be given an opportunity to given their input on the topic during public comment.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers inside Lompoc City Hall, 100 Civic Center Plaza.
