The nation is quickly pulling together amidst the destruction and tragedy of Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath, including local organizations on the Central Coast.

ShelterBox USA is assembling relief kits in Santa Barbara.

Inside the box is a temporary home; it provides enough for up to 10 people to live inside for weeks, or even months, until they can go home or find another alternative.

The team ships these boxes to disaster zones all over the world, and members say these boxes are vital.

"We prepare our shelter and other items to literally keep people alive in the immediate aftermath of an emergency," said Kerry Murray, the president of ShelterBox USA.

You can help donate to Harvey victims from these links, such as the American Red Cross and Direct Relief, and you can learn more about ShelterBox USA at this website.
