Temps will stay above normal for some time inland

Posted: Updated:

A ridge in the upper atmosphere looks to stay planted over the Western U.S. into the weekend and beyond.

The last two days Paso Robles has hit 110, breaking records.  We may be a little off that pace today but 4 more days of temps 108-113 are likely before temps ease a little into the 103-108 range into next week.

Closer to the coast temps increases in the coastal valleys into the mid-80s to low 90s into next week.  Beaches will come up into the upper 70s and low 80s into next week.

Something to watch later this week will be the monsoon trying to sneak in from the east.  Some upper elevation thunderstorms may be possible Thursday into the weekend.  The steering flow is out of the east so storms that form in the mountains could drift into the valleys but we’ll have to watch this potential.  I think most storms would be scattered in nature.

The modeling I have looked at seems to indicate warmer than average temps all thru next week, especially inland.
