Local kids in need receive new clothes for the school year

Posted: Updated:

The San Luis Obispo Assistance League is partnering with Old Navy and Kohl’s to help clothed children this school year.

They call it Operation School Bell, and it started at the end of August.

Last year San Luis Obispo Assistance League clothed 1,909 students at Kohl's and Old Navy. This year, the goal is to clothe 2,000 students.

Their organization gives to every grade and to every school in the San Luis Obispo County.

Each student is able to pick out a book and a bag of school supplies. And depending on their grade they receive $120-$150 for other supplies.

The Assistance League is a national nonprofit made up completely of volunteers, with 140 members.
