Bo Derek helping Santa Ynez Recovery Ranch group head to Texas for hurricane relief efforts

Posted: Updated:

A Hollywood star who lives in the Santa Ynez Valley is helping to send Harvey relief help to Texas.

A group of 50 men from the Recovery Ranch sober living group in Santa Ynez is taking four trucks filled with food, clothes and other items.

The men leave Friday and plan to spend the next two weeks in Texas. They say they plan to help 20 other men from a damaged sober living facility.

Actress Bo Derek is sponsoring the trip.

"I'm so grateful to these guys that are going out there. I just think it's wonderful. It feels like they're representing me, in a way, and my community. I'm so proud of them," said Derek, who is donating proceeds from her Bo Derek Pet Care business.

"We want to assist in offering food, serving meals and just really anywhere we're needed. Any kind of manual labor or manpower that's needed, will be there to help," said Jared Erb, director of the Recovery Ranch.

The group went to North Carolina last year for Hurricane Matthew relief.
