Shandon School students treated to special concert

Posted: Updated:

Shandon students were treated to their first concert in a decade this week, all in an effort to add more arts to their education.

Students ranging from sixth grade to 12th grade watched a special performance by world-renowned musical group, Cafe Musique.

The performers encouraged the kids to clap, stomp and dance along with the music.

"They came in kind of sleepy and they left just invigorated.," said Cafe Musique performer Brynn Albanese. "In the bathroom, I was talking to some of the girls and they were like, 'Oh that was so amazing! Please come back! Please come back!'"

The county superintendent of schools is working to expose all schools to the arts, thanks to a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
